I’m designing a Decontamination and Wellness Facility for active firefighters in the City of Inglewood, CA.

I want to bring awareness to reducing long term health issues among fire fighters. Firefighters play a vital and challenging role in protecting our communities from fires and other emergencies. They must possess a unique combination of physical strength, mental toughness, and technical expertise to perform their demanding jobs effectively. Yet, many current stations lack the dedicated space and resources needed for proper decontamination and mental decompression.

The Deco Shift will create a safe, restorative, and rejuvenating environment where firefighters from different stations can come to utilize this facility between shifts. It provides firefighters with tools to decontaminate, recharge, and strengthen both their physical and mental health, without feeling stigmatized for seeking support. It will empower them to not only heal from immediate exposures but also to sustain long and healthy careers in service to their communities.
